AESG Wins License to Guard SAR 262 bn in Saudi Industrial Projects

AESG has secured a licence from the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security to deliver fire and life‑safety consultancy across twelve key economic sectors in Saudi Arabia, enabling the firm to contribute to more than SAR 262 billion in development projects.

With this accreditation, the consultancy becomes one of the first internationally based firms authorised by the licensing body to provide services under its Safety and Fire directives. The scope spans a broad range of infrastructure, including energy and water facilities, petrochemical plants, chemical and mining operations, railways, telecommunications and ports, as well as nuclear and other high‑security industrial facilities. This authorisation also positions AESG to support compliance within flagship projects aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.

Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al‑Zahrani, Governor of the Supreme Authority for Industrial Security, emphasised that safeguarding facilities and workforce continuity represents both a strategic investment and an essential pillar for sustaining national industrial systems. He noted the importance of embedding robust legislation rooted in local standards and global best practices to ensure safety consistently accompanies industrial advancement.

AESG reports its track record includes protecting over SAR 30 billion worth of built assets in Saudi Arabia, notably NEOM, Red Sea International Airport, and developments in the Diriyah Gate district—projects comprising millions of square metres of infrastructure. The new licence enables the firm to extend its expertise across projects valued at more than SAR 262 billion annually.

Saeed Al Abbar, AESG’s Chief Executive Officer, said that the licence underscores the firm’s blend of regional insight and global standards. He praised the licensing authority’s vision, which he said sets a new benchmark not only for the Kingdom but for the wider region.

AESG has begun ramping up its local capabilities. It recently recruited Steve Apter, formerly Deputy Chief of the London Fire Brigade, whose three decades of experience include work on major projects in the Kingdom. The company plans to expand its Saudi workforce by over 25 percent within the year and targets 40 percent growth in business. Abdullah Faza, Director – Fire and Life Safety, Middle East at AESG, described the firm’s pioneering work in developing one of the Kingdom’s first private fire‑code guides for a royal commission, highlighting both its specialist competencies and the trust placed in it by regulators and developers.

This development also reflects broader trends in the Kingdom’s industrial regulatory environment—namely the formalisation of fire and safety frameworks and the increasing role of the private sector under privatisation efforts and new regulatory mandates for private fire and rescue providers.
