Sharjah drives digital vehicle services through Rafid-Shory tie-up

Rafid Automotive Solutions has entered a strategic partnership with digital insurance platform Shory to deliver integrated digital services linking vehicle inspection, insurance issuance and registration procedures in Sharjah. The agreement signals a broader push across the emirate to streamline automotive services through technology-driven platforms.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Ahmed Jumaa Al Mashrakh, managing director of Rafid Automotive Solutions, and Aoun Al Smadi, chief executive officer of Shory. The partnership is designed to combine Rafid’s vehicle service infrastructure with Shory’s digital insurance platform to create a more seamless customer experience for motorists completing inspection and insurance requirements.

Officials said the initiative will enable drivers to obtain motor insurance instantly after completing vehicle inspections, reducing paperwork and shortening administrative processes associated with registration renewals. Integration of services across both platforms is expected to accelerate transactions and allow motorists to handle multiple procedures through a single digital journey.

Sharjah’s new digital partnership linking automotive and insurance services reflects a growing focus on digital transformation across public-service sectors in the emirate, particularly those involving vehicle ownership, licensing and road safety compliance.

Rafid Automotive Solutions, a subsidiary of Sharjah Asset Management, operates across several key automotive service areas, including roadside assistance, vehicle inspections, maintenance support and traffic solutions. The company has increasingly emphasised digital platforms to simplify interactions between motorists and service providers.

Company executives describe the partnership with Shory as part of a wider strategy to modernise automotive services in Sharjah. Ahmed Al Mashrakh said the collaboration supports Rafid’s aim of offering integrated digital solutions through its mobile application, allowing users to complete vehicle-related services with greater speed and convenience.

He added that linking inspection services directly with insurance issuance would reduce the time drivers spend navigating administrative procedures, while also improving the efficiency of vehicle renewal and registration processes. Digital integration between both platforms is expected to enhance transaction accuracy and improve the overall customer experience.

Shory operates as a digital insurance marketplace that allows customers to purchase policies online without traditional paperwork. The platform offers a range of insurance products including motor, travel, home and health coverage, with a particular focus on rapid policy issuance and simplified digital access.

Chief executive Aoun Al Smadi described the cooperation with Rafid as an opportunity to connect digital insurance technology with a broader automotive ecosystem. He said the integration would provide motorists with faster insurance access and a streamlined digital environment covering inspection, insurance purchase and vehicle documentation.

Shory has built its presence across the Gulf by focusing on automated and technology-driven insurance services. The platform has introduced artificial-intelligence-based solutions designed to simplify policy renewals and connect with government platforms that verify inspection and registration data in real time.

Integration of these systems has allowed motorists in several jurisdictions to complete vehicle insurance and registration procedures through a single digital interface. The model reflects a wider shift in the insurance sector toward paperless services and automated policy management.

Digital transformation in vehicle services has accelerated across the Gulf region as governments and private companies adopt technology platforms to reduce administrative friction. Automotive inspection, insurance verification and vehicle licensing traditionally required multiple physical visits to service centres, but digital integration is gradually replacing these processes with unified online services.

Sharjah has positioned digital mobility services as a central element of its broader economic and infrastructure strategy. Authorities have encouraged partnerships between public-sector entities and technology companies to modernise service delivery and improve road-safety compliance.

Rafid’s operational data illustrates the growing demand for digital automotive services. The company handled about 269,000 service calls in 2025, with an average response time of around two and a half minutes. Requests submitted through the Rafid mobile application increased significantly, indicating rising reliance on app-based services among motorists.

The company operates several service divisions, including traffic solutions, roadside assistance, vehicle maintenance and technical inspection. Each unit has reported growth in service demand, particularly through digital channels, as customers increasingly favour remote access to vehicle services.

Sharjah’s authorities have also encouraged initiatives that reduce the need for physical visits to inspection centres. Rafid introduced a door-to-door vehicle inspection service allowing motorists to schedule inspections through its application while technicians handle vehicle transport and testing procedures.

The partnership with Shory extends this digital approach by linking inspection outcomes directly with insurance issuance. Once a vehicle passes inspection, motorists can obtain insurance coverage immediately through the integrated platform, allowing registration procedures to proceed without delays.

Industry analysts view such collaborations as part of a broader evolution in the automotive and insurance sectors. Digital insurance marketplaces are expanding rapidly across the Middle East as regulators and governments encourage innovation that simplifies consumer access to financial services.

Insurance technology companies have increasingly partnered with mobility platforms, government services and vehicle-inspection providers to create unified ecosystems that manage the entire lifecycle of vehicle ownership. These systems combine real-time data verification with automated policy issuance, reducing administrative burdens for both drivers and regulators.
