The men’s matchup saw Qatar’s side slip after a tense tie; UAE claimed victory 2-1, handing Qatar its first loss in the tournament. On court, the women’s team from UAE overpowered Oman 3-0. In the juniors’ division, the UAE swept Saudi Arabia by the same margin.
Qatar had opened the championship with winning performances, including a 3-0 sweep of Oman in the men’s competition. Against Saudi Arabia, Qatar secured another men’s win 2-1, with Rashid Nawaf & Hassan Wali dominating their match 6-2, 6-2, followed by Mohammed Saadoun & Meshari Nawaf’s flawless 6-0, 6-0 result.
Yet UAE’s consistency across formats has elevated its standing. Earlier, UAE had begun by besting Saudi Arabia 3-0 in the first round of the men’s section, as well as defeating Qatar in the women’s opening match 2-1.
With the final round scheduled to conclude the tournament today at Padel Inn in Doha, UAE will face Kuwait in a defining match for the gold in the men’s division. Qatar will play Bahrain, aiming to secure silver. In the women’s draw, Saudi Arabia clash with UAE; Kuwait take on Oman; while in juniors, Qatar faces Saudi Arabia; UAE meets Bahrain; and Kuwait plays Oman. A win for Kuwait in the juniors could hand them the title there.
Tournament organisers and officials have noted that the depth of UAE’s talent, especially in the youth category, is one of the emerging trends — juniors being competitive across all fronts is reshaping expectations among the Gulf nations. Qatar, despite strong individual match performances, appears challenged by consistency across all formats.
Among key players, Rashid Nawaf and Hassan Wali for Qatar remain standout performers, especially in the men’s doubles, while UAE’s men’s and women’s pairs have shown resilience and depth — able to deliver under pressure in both the middle and closing matches.
