
Abdulghani remarked that trade volumes between Qatar and Latvia are very modest and emphasised that private-sector engagement is essential to expand exchange and mutual investment. Goldfinča affirmed Latvia’s strong interest in deepening economic ties, especially in sectors such as information and communications technology, food security, tourism, renewable energy, healthcare, and logistics.
Latvia’s eight free zones were underlined as offering attractive incentives and facilities for foreign investors, with the ambassador noting the country is open to Qatari investments across all sectors. She also stressed strengthening cooperation between Qatar Chamber and the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aiming to build better links between their business communities.
Officials discussed potential areas of private-sector partnerships, highlighting that improving infrastructure for trade facilitation and regulatory alignment could help remove barriers. They agreed that exploring joint ventures and investments would be more fruitful if accompanied by targeted information sharing and support mechanisms for businesses looking across borders.
Goldfinča and Qatari representatives also considered the importance of logistics corridors, supply-chain resilience, and leveraging Latvia’s geographical position in Europe to serve as a gateway for Qatari companies seeking access to EU markets. Al Abdulghani urged Qatari firms to assess projects in Latvia’s Free Zones, pointing to the support measures and potential tax advantages available there.
