Dubai Retail incorporates an expansive mix of venues—encompassing ten malls, 15 lifestyle locations and 18 retail centres—covering over 13 million square feet of gross leasable area and housing more than 6,500 retailers. This integration is part of the organisation’s strategy following the 2024 merging of Nakheel and Meydan into Dubai Holding, intended to optimise operations across its retail assets.
Malek Al Malek, Group CEO of Dubai Holding Asset Management, emphasised the synergies unlocked by this integration. He noted that Dubai Retail draws strength from Dubai Holding’s ecosystem—specifically its development and asset management expertise—to capitalise on opportunities linked to population growth, a buoyant tourism sector and ambitious urban development.
Fareed Abdelrahman, Managing Director of Retail Destinations at DHAM, highlighted that the creation of Dubai Retail sets the stage for strategic expansion. He underlined the importance of evolving with global retail trends and elevating customer experience to ensure the destinations remain relevant, competitive and contribute meaningfully to Dubai’s status as a global retail and lifestyle hub.
An early manifestation of this brand realignment is the rebranding of Nakheel Mall to Palm Jumeirah Mall, coinciding with the opening of a redeveloped section. This reinforces the mall’s flagship identity on the iconic Palm Jumeirah. Simultaneously, the brand continues to expand through new developments, including the newly opened Nad Al Sheba Mall and the upcoming Al Khail Avenue, which is set to contribute an additional 1.2 million square feet of GLA once completed.
The Dubai Retail brand spans a broad spectrum of retail environments. Its malls include Palm Jumeirah Mall, Nad Al Sheba Mall, The Outlet Village, Circle Mall, Ibn Battuta Mall, Golden Mile Galleria, Bay Avenue, Bay Square, Dragon Mart, and the soon-to-open Al Khail Avenue.
Lifestyle destinations under the brand range from Bluewaters, JBR, Palm West Beach, The Club at Palm West Beach, Vista Mare, Al Khawaneej Walk, Souk Al Seef, Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Boxpark, Last Exit, DXBIKE, to Dubai Islands Beach.
Complementing these are 18 community retail centres dispersed across residential areas—including Jumeirah Islands Centre, Jumeirah Park East & West Centres, Al Furjan Centres, Badrah Centre, Remraam Centre, Shorooq Centre, Ghoroob Square, Layan Centre, Mudon Centre, Serena Centre, Villanova Centre, Meydan Heights Centre, District One Centre, Discovery Gardens Centre, International City Centre and Al Khail Gate Centre.
This level of consolidation positions Dubai Retail as one of the region’s most significant retail networks, not merely through size but also through its capacity to integrate shopping, dining, leisure and culture in a unified, future-oriented framework.
By clustering its assets under one brand, DHAM aims to streamline management, tap into cross-promotional and operational efficiencies, and deliver a cohesive customer journey. The initiative also reflects Dubai Holding’s broader vision of reinforcing the emirate’s reputation as a retail and lifestyle capital.
