Zoho Commits $500 Million to Bahrain’s Digital Future

Zoho Corporation, a global technology firm, has unveiled plans to invest $500 million in Bahrain, marking its most significant commitment in the Gulf region to date. The investment encompasses the establishment of a new office and a data centre, reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a burgeoning digital hub in the Middle East.

The forthcoming data centre is poised to enhance data sovereignty and performance for Zoho’s clients across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. This move aligns with the company’s broader strategy to localise data storage and comply with regional data protection regulations, a critical consideration for businesses operating in the area.

In tandem with infrastructure development, Zoho is intensifying its support for Bahrain’s startup ecosystem through a collaboration with The Collective Hub, the nation’s premier co-working space. This partnership, under the Zoho for Startups programme, offers emerging businesses access to Zoho’s comprehensive suite of cloud-based applications. Eligible startups will receive $2,500 in Zoho Wallet credits, enabling them to utilise tools essential for operations such as sales, customer relationship management, marketing, human resources, supply chain management, e-commerce, and accounting.

Prem Anand Velumani, Associate Director of Strategic Growth for the Middle East and Africa at Zoho, emphasised the company’s dedication to empowering startups and small businesses. He noted that the initiative aims to provide these enterprises with the necessary tools and resources to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The Collective Hub, powered by Tenmou, has been instrumental in fostering innovation and collaboration within Bahrain’s entrepreneurial community. With three branches across Adliya, Bahrain Bay, and Yateem Center, the Hub supports over 500 members from diverse industries. Khawla Alshaikh, Manager of The Collective Hub, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its alignment with the Hub’s mission to nurture entrepreneurial talent in Bahrain and beyond.

Zoho’s investment in Bahrain is part of a broader regional expansion strategy. The company has recently opened data centres in Saudi Arabia and is planning further expansions in Africa, including offices in Cape Town and Cairo. These developments underscore Zoho’s commitment to enhancing its global footprint and supporting digital transformation initiatives across emerging markets.
