
Under their agreement, Mastercard will provide its global expertise, advanced technology, and extensive acceptance network to enhance BankDhofar’s card business. The collaboration is aimed at offering customers modernised and more secure payment solutions alongside access to premium privileges.
BankDhofar’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Gopakumar, described the move as a milestone in redefining payment experiences. He said the partnership will enable “secure, seamless, and future-ready financial solutions” for the bank’s diverse clientele. Mastercard’s President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Dimitrios Dosis, emphasised that the deal aligns with Oman’s Vision 2040, and will support financial inclusion, innovation, and digital transformation across the sultanate.
Customers will benefit from Mastercard’s global acceptance, facilitating payments in stores, online, and abroad. The offering will come with enhanced privileges such as travel insurance, access to airport lounges, lifestyle and dining discounts. Security upgrades are central to the deal; fraud protection, tokenisation, biometric authentication and contactless payment solutions are part of the planned rollout.
The partnership includes tailored product innovation in response to customer segmentation. BankDhofar aims to extend debit, credit and prepaid card solutions to youth, small and medium-sized enterprises and underserved communities. Integration with mobile wallets and fintech-led services will ensure that payment methods remain flexible and responsive to usage patterns.
