Saudi-Honeywell Pact Fuel Industrial and Smart City Acceleration

Saudi Arabia’s Industry and Mineral Resources Minister, Bandar Alkhorayef, held strategic talks in the United States with Vimal Kapur, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Honeywell, aiming to deepen collaboration in advanced manufacturing, industrial automation and smart‑city infrastructure.

Alkhorayef’s discussions with Kapur centred on aligning Honeywell’s technological strengths with Saudi Arabia’s industrial modernisation programmes, particularly the Future Factories initiative, which targets transformation of thousands of production facilities through automation, digitalisation and Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies. Honeywell’s capabilities in industrial automation, IoT, smart building systems and AI‑driven operational platforms could provide the tools needed to enhance productivity, efficiency and sustainability across Saudi industrial zones.

Concurrently, Alkhorayef engaged with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright to bolster cooperation in mining—especially critical minerals—which are vital to global supply chains and economic diversification. Both sides committed to strengthening partnerships that support resilient supply chains and technological exchange.

Ahead of the minister’s trip, he toured North Carolina’s Research Triangle Park, including the SAS Institute, the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics at North Carolina State University, and the Energy X Lab. The visits showcased the cutting‑edge use of AI, digital twins, additive manufacturing and analytics in industrial operations—all with potential applications in Saudi Arabia’s advanced manufacturing plans.

These efforts form part of a broader engagement by Alkhorayef with American industrial and mining leaders, including meetings with executives of General Mills, Lilac Solutions, RTX, International Flavors & Fragrances and other firms to explore joint ventures in sectors ranging from chemicals and defence to food processing. These discussions align with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to position the Kingdom as a global manufacturing and mining hub via knowledge transfer and investment.

The meetings also highlighted the Kingdom’s attractive investment environment—featuring incentives such as the Standard Incentives programme offering up to 35 percent of capital investment costs, streamlined regulatory procedures, and a well‑developed industrial infrastructure—all designed to attract and facilitate foreign participation.

By integrating Honeywell’s automated systems, AI‑powered security solutions and smart‑city technologies, Saudi Arabia could accelerate its industrial transformation, enhance operational resilience and build more sustainable urban environments. Parallel advances in mining partnerships—especially around critical minerals—would underpin the diversification objectives of the National Industrial Strategy and Comprehensive Mining Strategy, creating economic and strategic value.
