CASIO’s initial model in 1957 revolutionised computation by offering an all-electric alternative to mechanical calculators. Over the years, successive milestones—the 1965 “001” with memory, the 1967 printing “101P”, and the 1972 scientific fx‑1—reshaped workflows and learning environments. Today’s celebration also featured demonstrations of contemporary products, such as the 60th anniversary MS‑20UC‑J “Colorful Japanese Pattern” series and the eco‑friendly Comfy JT‑200T model, both recently rolled out by CASIO globally.
Koji Shimada, General Manager of the Education Business Division at CMEA, described the milestone as a testament to trust placed in the brand by professionals and educators. He emphasised renewed efforts in product authentication, including enhanced verification systems and strengthened after‑sales support, aimed at protecting users from counterfeit goods.
The gathering also spotlighted CMEA’s commitment to education through initiatives like training workshops, case‑study showcases, and engagement with mathematics educators—a continuation of efforts highlighted at last year’s CASIO Math Summit in Dubai.
Beyond technical excellence, CASIO used the occasion to reinforce its cultural and environmental values. Delegates experienced traditional Middle Eastern and African performances during a cultural reception, celebrating regional diversity. CASIO’s broader sustainability strategy, unveiled earlier in the year, includes recycled‑plastic calculator bodies and reduced plastic packaging, aligning with global environmental objectives.
The new MS‑20UC‑J calculators feature three Japanese patterns symbolising values of growth, resilience and unity—Asanoha Red, Seigaiha Blue, and Takekago White—while the Comfy JT‑200T adopts recycled materials, solar‑edge panel placement, and ergonomic design for longevity. These models reflect CASIO’s mission to merge tradition, usability and sustainability.
CASIO’s global figures reveal shipments of over 1.8 billion calculators to more than 100 countries since inception, with a switch to paper packaging implemented worldwide as of June 2023. The company continues to roll out anniversary models and host region‑specific educational events, reinforcing its role in shaping learning and professional environments.
