UAE Floating Hospital Offers Specialized Care to Palestinians

The Emirates Floating Hospital, docked in the Egyptian city of Al Arish, has emerged as a beacon of medical hope for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. As part of Operation Brave Knight 3, a humanitarian initiative launched by the United Arab Emirates' President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the hospital is providing crucial medical services to those suffering from injuries.

Dr. Ahmed Mubarak, the hospital's director, highlighted the team's recent success in performing a series of complex surgeries. These procedures, the first of their kind in a state-run field hospital setting, addressed intricate compound fractures. The surgeries involved the use of specialized titanium spinal nails, a testament to the expertise of the medical staff. Dr. Mubarak emphasized the demanding nature of these procedures, requiring not only highly skilled surgeons but also cutting-edge medical equipment and advanced materials.

The floating hospital, boasting a capacity of 120 beds alongside additional space for patient companions, is staffed by a team of 100 medical professionals. This diverse group comprises specialists in anesthesia, general surgery, orthopedics, and emergency medicine, along with nurses and vital support staff. Since its launch, the hospital has treated over 6, 600 patients, performing more than 764 major and minor surgeries. The scope of care encompasses everything from initial first aid to complex surgical procedures, followed by post-operative care and intensive support for critical cases. Additionally, the hospital offers consultations and various other therapeutic services.

This initiative aligns with the UAE's ongoing commitment to supporting the Palestinian people. The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has placed immense strain on the region's healthcare infrastructure. The floating hospital serves as a much-needed stopgap, offering specialized care that may not be readily available within Gaza itself. The ability to perform intricate surgeries using advanced techniques underscores the hospital's capacity to deliver high-quality medical interventions.

The UAE's efforts extend beyond immediate medical aid. Operation Brave Knight 3 encompasses a broader strategy to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians. This humanitarian mission provides essential supplies, strengthens healthcare infrastructure, and fosters a sense of hope for a more stable future.
