Over Half of Family Disputes Resolved Amicably in Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) achieved a significant milestone in 2023, resolving over 61% of family disputes through amicable settlements. This accomplishment reflects the department's dedication to promoting a culture of tolerance and fostering conflict resolution methods that prioritize family stability.

Family guidance committees played a pivotal role in this success. These committees addressed a total of 15, 667 family disputes in 2023. Through specialized social, psychological, and legal mentors, the committees facilitated intensive sessions for couples facing challenges. These sessions provided a platform for open communication, exploration of issues from various perspectives, and the development of mutually agreeable solutions. Treatment plans were also formulated, incorporating necessary recommendations to address the specific needs of each family.

The ADJD's commitment to amicable settlements extends beyond the realm of family guidance committees. Specialized family court judges are equipped with the necessary training and experience to navigate sensitive family matters. These judges often employ mediation techniques within the court setting, aiming to guide couples towards solutions that preserve family unity.

This focus on amicable resolutions offers several advantages. It allows couples to maintain a degree of control over the outcome of their disputes, fostering a sense of empowerment and potentially minimizing long-term resentment. Additionally, amicable settlements are often achieved more swiftly and cost-effectively compared to traditional court proceedings. Perhaps most importantly, prioritizing amicable resolutions helps to safeguard the well-being of children involved in family disputes, minimizing the emotional turmoil they may experience.

The ADJD's success in promoting amicable settlements is a testament to its commitment to upholding family values and ensuring the well-being of Abu Dhabi's communities. By providing a supportive framework for conflict resolution, the department empowers couples to navigate challenges and work towards a positive outcome for all parties involved.
