Dubai's DP World and the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) marked a significant step forward in their collaboration with the groundbreaking ceremony for a $250 million logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port. This state-of-the-art facility promises to revolutionize storage and distribution capabilities while bolstering trade within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the wider region.
The project, dubbed the Jeddah Logistics Park, will be built on a sprawling 415, 000 square meter greenfield site. At the heart of the complex will lie 185, 000 square meters of warehousing space, complemented by a substantial multipurpose storage yard. This ambitious undertaking will establish the Jeddah Logistics Park as the undisputed heavyweight in the Kingdom's integrated logistics landscape.
The logistics park boasts an impressive capacity exceeding 390, 000 pallet positions. This translates to an efficient platform for customers, streamlining the flow of goods to and from the strategic Jeddah port. The development is slated for completion in two phases, with an anticipated opening in the second quarter of 2025.
Sustainability is a cornerstone of the Jeddah Logistics Park's design. The inclusion of a rooftop solar plant on the warehouse, generating a significant 20 megawatts of renewable energy, underscores this commitment. This eco-friendly approach positions the facility as a leader in responsible logistics practices within the region.
The partnership between DP World and Mawani extends beyond the Jeddah Logistics Park. The collaboration encompasses the management of Jeddah's South Container Terminal through a separate 30-year concession agreement established in 2020.
