Polymarket has introduced round-the-clock perpetual futures linked to Anthropic, allowing eligible traders to speculate on the artificial intelligence company's valuation with leverage of up to ten times their deposited margin. The contract, identified as ANT, appears on Polymarket's pre-IPO derivatives platform, where traders can take positions anticipating either an increase or a decline in its reference price. Unlike ordinary shares, the instrument does not give investors ownership of Anthropic or any entitlement to shares when the company goes public.
Polymarket's product information identifies ANT as its sole pre-IPO perpetual contract currently available, although the platform indicates that additional private companies could be added. The listing extends its derivatives offering into a market where prices are based on expectations about businesses whose equity is not yet publicly traded.
The platform displays a continuously changing mark price, trading activity and funding rate alongside the contract's maximum leverage. These figures reflect transactions and pricing mechanisms within the derivatives market rather than an official share price established by Anthropic or a public stock exchange.
Perpetual futures differ from conventional futures because they have no fixed expiry date. Traders can maintain positions while they meet margin requirements, with periodic funding payments between buyers and sellers designed to keep the contract's trading price aligned with its reference index.
Polymarket explains that the reference price is derived from the company's private valuation. That distinction matters because valuations assigned in private financing transactions, indications from secondary markets and prices generated by speculative derivatives need not coincide. The contract therefore provides exposure to market expectations, not a direct claim on Anthropic's assets or earnings.
Leverage increases both potential gains and losses. At the advertised maximum of ten times, a trader controlling a position worth $10,000 might initially commit approximately $1,000 in collateral, subject to the platform's margin rules. A relatively small adverse price movement could consume a substantial proportion of that collateral and trigger liquidation.
The platform states that positions remain open until traders close them or insufficient margin causes liquidation. Funding payments can also change the cost of maintaining a position, even when the quoted price moves little. The applicable funding rate can vary as market demand shifts between long and short positions.
A separate market-data service tracking Polymarket's ANT contract describes leverage limits that become progressively tighter for larger positions. Its published tiers show a maximum of ten times for smaller positions, falling to five, three, two and eventually one times as notional exposure increases. Such limits are intended to contain risk as position sizes grow.
The launch comes as traders seek instruments tied to major privately held artificial intelligence developers before their shares become accessible through conventional stock markets. Other derivatives venues also display Anthropic-linked contracts, although their symbols, reference-price methodologies, leverage ceilings and settlement arrangements can differ substantially.
Consequently, prices quoted for similarly named instruments should not automatically be compared as if they represented identical quantities of stock. Some products track an implied company valuation, while others use a synthetic price associated with an anticipated share. Neither necessarily establishes a reliable price for a future public offering.
The availability of an ANT contract also does not itself confirm that Anthropic has authorised the product, issued a cryptocurrency token or set an initial public offering price. Trading in a third-party derivative is separate from any decision by the company to sell shares to the public.
Market participants face additional uncertainty because the underlying company lacks a continuously traded public share price against which derivatives valuations can be checked. This can make reference-price construction, liquidity and the treatment of sudden valuation changes particularly important when assessing exposure.
Trading access is subject to geographical restrictions and the platform's eligibility rules. Information accompanying the product indicates that order placement for Polymarket perpetual futures is restricted in the United States and Canada. Availability elsewhere depends on the applicable service terms and local requirements.
The distinction also affects how trading performance is interpreted. A rise in the derivative may indicate stronger demand for bullish exposure, but it does not establish that Anthropic has completed a financing transaction at the corresponding valuation or received additional capital.
Polymarket's contract interface offers separate long and short trading choices, with the displayed funding rate and mark price updating as market conditions change. Its pre-IPO product page currently lists Anthropic alone within that category.
