The vehicle, named Pvt Dpt – LNG Fund (CEIC) IC, will be managed by Reem Partners Limited, while KSH Investments will serve as strategic consultant. The announcement places the fund within an existing partnership with MidOcean Energy and EIG, focused on raising capital, identifying investments and pursuing energy and infrastructure opportunities in the United Arab Emirates and selected regional markets.
The $1.2 billion figure represents a fundraising target for the initial close rather than money confirmed as collected. The announcement did not specify a closing date, disclose investor commitments to the new vehicle or identify individual assets it would acquire. Those details will determine how quickly the fund can translate its stated investment strategy into transactions.
The Private Department said the initiative forms part of a programme to establish investment vehicles within Abu Dhabi Global Market, the capital's international financial centre. It described the move as supporting the development of capital markets in Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE, with institutional capital formation central to the initiative.
Reem Partners is incorporated in Abu Dhabi Global Market and regulated by its Financial Services Regulatory Authority. Its authorised activities include managing collective investment funds, arranging investment deals and providing specified investment and credit advice relating to fund units. The company will undertake the fund management role, distinct from the strategic advisory responsibilities assigned to KSH Investments.
Ahmed Mansour, chief executive officer for global investment and asset management at the Private Department, said the vehicle would strengthen its investment platform and provide exposure to international infrastructure and energy assets. He also pointed to opportunities for regional investors to participate alongside established institutional partners.
Mansour identified MidOcean's LNG portfolio as an important element of the strategy and said the relationship with EIG provided a basis for further investment cooperation across the region. His comments outlined the sponsors' intentions rather than announcing additional completed acquisitions or fresh binding commitments.
The fund follows a $1.13 billion investment commitment made by the Private Department to MidOcean Energy in July. That transaction marked its entry into the international LNG sector and accompanied a strategic agreement with EIG covering capital aggregation, investment origination and the development of institutional opportunities in the UAE and other selected markets.
MidOcean was formed and is managed by EIG, an investment firm specialising in energy and infrastructure. Its holdings span LNG businesses and projects across several international markets, including Canada, Australia and Latin America. The platform seeks exposure to assets involved in producing and supplying liquefied natural gas, which can be transported by ship to importing markets.
The distinction between the July commitment and the newly announced fund is important. The earlier amount concerned a commitment to invest in MidOcean, while the new $1.2 billion target relates to an investment vehicle with its own management arrangements. The announcement did not establish whether any capital commitments overlap or provide a detailed breakdown of prospective fund investors.
MidOcean said earlier this month that its 2026 equity fundraising had attracted more than $4 billion in closed and pending commitments over the preceding 12 months, compared with an original target of $2 billion. The company named the Private Department among its new investors, alongside other institutional and corporate participants.
The Private Department and KSH Investments operate across several asset classes, including real estate, hospitality, financial services, infrastructure and energy. Their collaboration with EIG extends that investment activity into an international LNG platform while creating a separate structure intended to accommodate institutional participation.
The new structure also separates responsibility for regulated fund management from the broader investment strategy. Reem Partners will operate within the financial centre's regulatory framework, while KSH Investments contributes strategic guidance. The announcement did not disclose the proposed investment period, minimum subscription requirements, fee arrangements or expected returns, leaving several commercial terms outside the information released publicly at the fund's launch.
Borja Gervas, senior executive officer of Reem Partners, welcomed the mandate and highlighted Abu Dhabi Global Market's role as a jurisdiction for businesses entering the Middle East. Jorge Garcia-Garcia, a managing director at the firm, also welcomed its appointment and the opportunity to support the fund's establishment within the financial centre.
