Storm Alert Issued For Governorates In Makkah Region

National Center for Meteorology forecasts moderate to heavy rain, strong winds, hail, and thunderstorms across several governorates in Makkah Region today, warning that visibility may fall drastically and flash flooding could occur.

Orange-level alerts are active for towns such as Taif, Al Ardiyat, Rahat, Madrakah and Haddat Ash Sham, which are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. Yellow alerts stretch over other areas including Al Khurma, Al Jumum, Al Qunfudhah, Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and Al Taif, with expectations of light rain, active winds, low horizontal visibility, and occasional thunder.

Forecasts warn of hailfalls, torrential showers and thunderstorms particularly in governorates under orange alerts. These weather conditions could bring localized flash floods and near-zero visibility, especially in low lying areas and along watercourses.

Authorities are advising residents to avoid travelling through valleys, ensure drainage paths are clear, reduce exposure to outdoor risk especially during thunderstorms, and follow updates from Civil Defence and the National Center for Meteorology.
