UAE Endures Record-Breaking Heatwave as Temperatures Soar to 51.6°C

Al Ain, a city in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, recorded a staggering temperature of 51.6°C on Saturday, marking the highest temperature ever documented in the United Arab Emirates for the month of May, according to the National Center of Meteorology . This unprecedented heatwave has prompted urgent advisories from health and meteorological authorities, urging residents to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with extreme heat.

The NCM has issued warnings highlighting the dangers of prolonged exposure to such high temperatures, recommending that individuals stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and wear light, breathable clothing. The centre also noted that inland areas, particularly in the southern and eastern regions, are experiencing the most intense heat, with temperatures consistently exceeding 45°C.

The average daily high in April reached 42.6°C, surpassing the previous record set in 2017.
