Saudi Arabia Boosts Trade with $250 Million Logistics Park

The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) and global logistics giant DP World commemorated a significant milestone on May 26, 2024, with the groundbreaking ceremony for a brand new logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port. This investment of $250 million marks a strategic move to bolster trade within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the wider region.

The logistics park, spanning an impressive 415, 000 square meters, will be the largest integrated facility of its kind in Saudi Arabia. It will feature a sprawling multi-purpose storage yard alongside 185, 000 square meters of warehousing space. This substantial capacity will translate to over 390, 000 pallet positions, providing businesses with an efficient platform to seamlessly manage the flow of goods to and from Jeddah.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the Jeddah Logistics Park will incorporate a rooftop solar plant on the warehouse, generating 20MW of renewable energy. This eco-conscious feature underscores the commitment of both MAWANI and DP World to environmental responsibility.

The establishment of the Jeddah Logistics Park is part of a broader 30-year concession agreement signed in 2022. The project will be developed in two phases and is scheduled to open its doors in the second quarter of 2025. This collaboration between MAWANI and DP World further strengthens their existing partnership, which also encompasses the management of the South Container Terminal at Jeddah Islamic Port under a separate 30-year concession signed in 2020.

The Jeddah Logistics Park is expected to be a game-changer for Saudi Arabia's trade sector. By providing state-of-the-art storage and distribution facilities, the park will empower businesses to streamline their operations and expand their reach. This, in turn, will contribute to the growth of the Saudi Arabian economy and solidify Jeddah Islamic Port's position as a key trade gateway in the region.
