UAE's Research Crown Goes to Khalifa University

Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KU) has solidified its position as the UAE's leader in high-impact research. According to a recent announcement by the university, KU secured the top spot for publishing research papers in the most prestigious academic journals. This achievement is based on data from Scopus, a leading research database, which uses CiteScore Percentile to rank journals.

In 2023, KU researchers had a remarkable 125 papers published in the top 1% of journals. This impressive number signifies a 40% increase compared to 2022, demonstrating a continuous upward trend in the university's research excellence. KU's dominance extends beyond the top 1%. They also hold the leading position for publications in the top 5% of journals, with a total of 532 papers published in 2023, reflecting a significant increase of nearly 40% over the previous year.

Dr. Ahmed Al Durra, KU's Senior Vice-President for Research and Development, expressed his pride in the university's accomplishment. He highlighted KU's robust research portfolio, which includes over 300 issued patents, more than 230 patent applications in progress, and over 680 invention disclosures. These figures showcase the university's commitment to groundbreaking research endeavors in critical sectors like aerospace, biomedical sciences, energy, robotics, and engineering.
