Streamlined Traffic Flow for Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Worshippers During Ramadan

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) is gearing up to ensure a smooth experience for worshippers visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The ITC has announced a multi-pronged approach aimed at facilitating traffic flow and prioritizing the comfort of mosque attendees.

A key element of the plan involves intensifying surveillance and inspection services around the mosque's north and south gates. A dedicated team of 33 inspectors and supervisors will be deployed to monitor traffic movement and address any congestion issues promptly.

Motorists approaching the mosque will benefit from enhanced communication measures. Messages will be displayed on fixed electronic variable message signs (VMS) positioned strategically around the mosque. This real-time information will guide drivers and alert them to potential traffic situations, allowing them to plan their routes accordingly.

The ITC understands the increased demand for transportation services during Ramadan, especially during Taraweeh prayers and the last ten days of the holy month. To address this, they will prioritize the availability of road service patrols and vehicle towing services. These services will ensure swift intervention in case of breakdowns or accidents, minimizing disruptions to traffic flow. Additionally, routine surveillance patrols will be amplified to proactively identify and address any potential issues before they escalate.

Recognizing the crucial role of taxis in facilitating visitor movement, the ITC has committed to providing over 100 taxis daily throughout Ramadan. This number will be strategically adjusted to accommodate the anticipated surge in demand during the final ten days of the holy month.

The ITC's comprehensive strategy reflects their commitment to creating a seamless and stress-free experience for worshippers visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque during Ramadan. By prioritizing traffic management, providing real-time information, and ensuring the availability of essential transportation services, the ITC is working diligently to create an environment that allows worshippers to focus on their spiritual observances during this sacred time.
