Abu Dhabi's Sanad, a leader in aerospace engineering and leasing solutions, has secured a significant boost to its business with a five-year contract extension valued at $145 million (AED532 million) with South Korea's Asiana Airlines. This renewed partnership strengthens Sanad's position as a major player in the global Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) industry.
The agreement focuses on the upkeep of the V2500 engines, a workhorse of the aviation industry. Manufactured by International Aero Engines, these engines power a substantial portion of the Airbus A320 and A321ceo aircraft around the world, including a significant number in Asiana Airlines' fleet. Under the extended contract, Sanad will be responsible for maintaining 30% of Asiana's V2500 engines, ensuring the continued smooth operation of their Airbus A321 airplanes.
This extension builds upon a successful initial agreement established in 2018. Sanad's extensive experience and expertise in V2500 engine MRO services were key factors in Asiana's decision to renew the partnership. Sanad boasts over 35 years in the MRO industry, and since 2012 alone, they have serviced more than 600 V2500 engines. Their state-of-the-art facilities in Abu Dhabi are equipped to handle all aspects of V2500 engine maintenance, from routine inspections to comprehensive overhauls.
The extended contract signifies a win-win situation for both parties.
