Himalaya Wellness, a leading manufacturer of herbal medicines, is establishing a foothold in the Middle East with a brand new state-of-the-art pharmaceutical factory in Dubai. This marks a significant expansion for the Indian company, aiming to not only cater to the regional market but also serve as a global production hub.
The factory, situated within the Dubai Industrial City, a prominent manufacturing and logistics hub, will focus on producing tablets, capsules, liquid orals, and ointments. The first phase itself will encompass a vast 225,000 square feet, signifying a substantial investment by Himalaya Wellness. This initial investment is estimated to be around $54.4 million (AED200 million).
The strategic location of Dubai is a key factor behind Himalaya's decision. Dubai boasts excellent infrastructure, a streamlined business environment, and a geographically advantageous position, making it ideal for efficient production and distribution across the globe.
This new facility is anticipated to be a powerhouse of production, boasting an annual capacity of 3 billion tablets, 15 million syrup bottles, and 3 million units of ointment. With such a high volume, Himalaya aims to not only meet the rising demand for herbal medications in the Middle East but also serve established and new markets in the US, Europe, and select Asian Pacific countries.
Furthermore, the factory promises to adhere to the most stringent international quality standards. This includes compliance with the European Medicine Agency's Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines, alongside regulations set forth by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention. This ensures that all Himalaya products manufactured in Dubai will maintain the company's commitment to quality and safety.
