UAS gains Morocco workplace recognition

Union Auto Service has been awarded the Best Place to Work™ certification in Morocco, adding a workplace-culture accolade to the profile of a Casablanca-based automotive services business that has expanded within five years of its launch.

The certification, announced by the international Best Places to Work programme, places UAS among employers assessed for staff experience, human resources practices, leadership, compensation, benefits, teamwork, engagement, workplace procedures and corporate social responsibility. For a company operating in Morocco’s competitive automotive services market, the award gives added visibility at a time when employers are under growing pressure to retain skilled staff and strengthen internal culture.

UAS, founded in 2021 and headquartered in Casablanca, specialises in automotive services and related solutions. Its operations are linked to a wider mobility ecosystem that includes tyres, lubricants, conveyor belts and associated industrial service lines. The company’s presence in Aïn Harrouda, near Casablanca, places it close to one of Morocco’s established commercial and industrial corridors, where automotive and logistics activity has expanded alongside the country’s manufacturing base.

Karim Idrissi, Morocco Program Director at Best Places to Work, said the certification reflected “a core belief” that lasting performance depends on employees who are “engaged, heard, and valued”. He described the recognition within five years as exceptional and said it pointed to cultural foundations laid early in the company’s development.

Oussama Allani, Deputy CEO of Union Auto Service, framed the award as the beginning of a longer process rather than a final achievement. “What matters most to us is not only what we have accomplished in five years, but especially what we will continue to build in the years ahead,” he said.

The certification comes as workplace reputation becomes a more important factor in Morocco’s automotive sector. The industry has grown from a low-cost assembly base into one of the country’s most important export engines, supported by vehicle manufacturing, components, logistics, maintenance and after-sales services. That expansion has created demand for technicians, service managers, operations staff and support teams able to work within increasingly specialised supply chains.

Morocco’s automotive industry has drawn investment from global manufacturers and suppliers, with Renault and Stellantis anchoring production and a growing network of local and international firms serving the sector. Automotive exports reached record levels in 2024, while expansion plans in Kenitra and other industrial zones have kept pressure on employers to attract and retain trained workers. The shift towards electric vehicles and battery supply chains is also changing the skills required across the sector.

For smaller and mid-sized companies such as UAS, workplace certification can serve several purposes. It offers an external benchmark of internal practices, helps strengthen employer branding, and can support recruitment in a labour market where skilled technical roles are increasingly contested. At the same time, such recognition does not by itself measure financial performance, customer satisfaction or long-term resilience. Its value depends on whether companies sustain employee engagement after the award cycle.

The Best Places to Work assessment model combines employee feedback with evaluation of human resources practices. Its survey framework covers areas such as leadership, teamwork, benefits, compensation and corporate responsibility, while the HR assessment examines company information, HR practices, engagement, workplace procedures and internal relationships. The model is designed to compare organisations across markets while allowing local workplace conditions to be reflected in the evaluation.

UAS’s certification also reflects a broader shift in employer expectations across Morocco’s industrial economy. Companies are increasingly judged not only on growth and service quality, but also on whether they can provide structured career paths, transparent management, safe working conditions and a sense of participation among staff. These issues are especially important in automotive services, where customer trust often depends on the consistency, training and motivation of frontline employees.

Casablanca remains central to this environment. The city and its surrounding industrial zones host vehicle distributors, repair and maintenance firms, parts suppliers and logistics operators. As vehicle fleets expand and businesses place greater emphasis on maintenance efficiency, service companies are likely to face rising demand for both technical competence and reliable customer support.

For UAS, the immediate benefit of the certification lies in credibility. The award gives the company a recognised marker in a market where employer reputation can influence hiring, partnerships and customer perception. The larger test will be whether it can translate that recognition into measurable improvements in retention, staff development and operational performance as Morocco’s automotive services market continues to evolve.
