UAE loads 11th humanitarian ship bound for Gaza aid

Abu Dhabi began loading the 11th Mohammed bin Rashid Humanitarian Ship at Khalifa Port, as part of an ongoing series of relief missions to deliver urgently needed supplies to Gaza’s civilian population. The vessel is due to set sail for the Port of Al-Arish in Egypt, from where aid will be transported into the Gaza Strip to bolster humanitarian operations that have been underway for more than two years.

The shipment reflects the United Arab Emirates’ sustained effort to deliver comprehensive relief to families enduring severe shortages of food, medicine and essential goods. The cargo manifest includes food supplies, shelter materials, hygiene kits, clothing and medical equipment, all aimed at alleviating pressure on health services and meeting basic needs in Gaza.

Officials overseeing the operation said the mission forms part of a broader humanitarian campaign built on longstanding UAE tradition and partnerships with charitable and humanitarian organisations. Emirates Red Crescent has been central to coordination, working with regional partners to ensure the aid reaches those most affected.

The drive to support Gaza has mobilised extensive community involvement inside the UAE. In Dubai, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives reported the packing of over 10 million meals for shipment aboard the humanitarian vessel, an effort led by more than 20,000 volunteers from across society. Senior officials emphasised the response as indicative of the depth of solidarity within the UAE for Palestinian civilians.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, underscored that the campaign was designed to send a clear message of support for Gaza’s beleaguered population. At a community event for the meal-packing initiative, he praised the enthusiasm of volunteers who far exceeded expectations, noting the turnout as “the true spirit of the sons and daughters of Zayed.”

Ministerial figures and civic leaders joined volunteers at the packing event, reflecting the involvement of diverse sectors in the UAE’s humanitarian push. Officials said that food shipments and relief materials are integrated into a wider package of support, coordinated across multiple Emirates and agencies.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Humanitarian Ships are a component of the larger Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 initiative, which the UAE launched amidst ongoing conflict and humanitarian distress in Gaza. Previous missions have included both sea shipments and overland convoys delivering tens of thousands of tonnes of food, medicine and relief items. Earlier this year, an Emirati aid vessel carrying 7,000 tonnes of aid arrived at Al-Arish Port, where supplies were offloaded for distribution through established relief channels.

Humanitarian organisations and community partners have highlighted the acute needs in Gaza, where access to basic necessities remains constrained by conflict conditions and infrastructural challenges. Aid shipments like the Mohammed bin Rashid vessels are intended to supplement efforts by international agencies striving to maintain essential services, particularly in health and food security sectors.

Within the UAE, the sustained campaign has drawn commentary from government and relief officials about the symbolic and practical significance of the missions. They portray the operations as both expressions of compassion and strategic contributions to mitigating humanitarian suffering in protracted crisis zones.

The logistics of loading and dispatching such large consignments require coordinated planning among port authorities, charity groups and government agencies. Khalifa Port’s role as the embarkation point underscores the UAE’s infrastructure capabilities in handling sizeable humanitarian consignments for international relief.

Despite challenges in access and distribution on the ground in Gaza, the sequence of maritime shipments reflects a commitment to sustain flows of aid. Analysts tracking Gulf-based humanitarian efforts note that the UAE’s multiyear involvement has positioned it as one of the region’s prominent contributors to relief operations for Palestinian civilians.
