AntGamer’s 1,000 Hz Monitor Aims to Redefine Gaming Display Speed

AntGamer has announced plans to launch what it bills as the world’s first 1,000 Hz gaming monitor in 2026, developed in collaboration with AMD. The company unveiled the initiative during its “Peak New Products and Ecological Co‑creation” event, where it also introduced its 750 Hz ANT257PF model. The new display is positioned squarely at the competitive end of the market, designed to satisfy the demands of elite esports players.

At the heart of this project is an advanced twisted nematic panel—a display choice prized in esports circles for its lightning-fast response time, though typically at the expense of colour accuracy and viewing angles compared to IPS or OLED screens. To counterbalance these limitations, AntGamer plans to deploy both local dimming and Black Frame Insertion, techniques expected to sharpen motion clarity and reduce blur.

The 750 Hz ANT257PF already boasts impressive specs: based on HKC’s G8.6 Fast TN panel, it offers a 0.8 ms grey‑to‑grey response, HDR400 certification, 400 nits brightness, and strong coverage of DCI‑P3 and sRGB colour spaces—hints at the engineering groundwork for the 1,000 Hz successor.

Collaboration with AMD extends beyond branding: the companies jointly released a white paper outlining the hardware requirements for achieving 1,000 fps gameplay, with esports titles such as Counter‑Strike 2 and PUBG highlighted as case studies. Slides from the presentation further revealed technical considerations including improved signal‑integrity in cabling, enhancement of amorphous silicon thin‑film layers, and refinements in panel cell chemistry and structure.

Industry commentators note the extraordinary nature of pushing refresh rates to four digits—while some enthusiasts could gain perceptible benefit from such speeds, the difference between mid‑300 Hz and 1,000 Hz may be negligible for most players. A former Nvidia scientist, Morgan McGuire, is cited as supporting ultra‑high refresh as the future of gaming displays, even if it remains a niche pursuit for now.

Other manufacturers are also exploring extreme refresh rates; TCL has demonstrated a 4K 1,000 Hz monitor in prototype form, though AntGamer appears poised to be the first with a consumer‑ready product.

Public reaction—particularly within the hardware community—reflects both intrigue and skepticism. One commentator on r/hardware noted that ultra‑high refresh rates could sideline VRR in favour of brute‑force frequency, while others debated whether frame‑generation tools like Nvidia’s would play a role in delivering perceived smoothness without matching raw fps.

As it stands, critical details such as resolution, input/output ports, pricing and general availability remain undisclosed, though observers expect the 1,000 Hz model to come at a premium—likely surpassing the 7,999 yuan asking price of the 750 Hz model.
