Franchising Momentum Builds at SDB’s Riyadh Forum

Social Development Bank inaugurated the three-day Franchise Go forum in Riyadh, signalling a strategic push to bolster the Kingdom’s franchising sector under Vision 2030. Held from 26 to 28 August, the forum convened senior representatives of the bank, entrepreneurs, partner organisations and franchising specialists from both domestic and global markets.

Opening with dynamic panel discussions, the forum provided a concentrated space for deep-dive dialogues on franchising best practices and emerging trends across sectors. Attendees gained insight into proven business models, and benefited from workshops and one-on-one sessions focusing on legal and financial frameworks—designed to lower entry barriers for aspiring franchisees.

Exhibitions ran alongside the discussions, enabling direct engagement with franchisors and providing a showcase of successful franchise models. Aspiring investors and entrepreneurs explored varied concepts that promise both growth and resilience.

Saudi Vision 2030 underpins the forum’s objectives, affirming the government’s commitment to diversifying the economy and expanding the contribution of SMEs to national GDP. Franchise Go is positioned as a platform not only for knowledge transfer, but also for catalysing private-sector growth through scalable, tested ventures.

The Social Development Bank strengthens its role through initiatives such as these, moving beyond financial support to encompass capacity building and advisory services. That evolution reflects a broader governance shift where development banks act as enablers of sustainable entrepreneurship.

Through discussions and workshops, participants were offered tools to navigate franchising complexities. Legal aspects—including compliance with regulatory frameworks—and financial structuring—emphasising risk mitigation and capital planning—featured prominently, helping de-risk investment decisions for individuals and organisations alike.

Networking underpinned every day of the forum, fostering connections between franchisors, government bodies and private-sector stakeholders. Such interactions are essential in building ecosystems conducive to commercial expansion and replication.
