DEWA’s Hassyan Project Secures Major Regional Award

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has been recognised with the 2024 Middle East and Africa Deal of the Year award by Project Finance International for its innovative and environmentally significant Hassyan seawater reverse osmosis desalination project. This monumental achievement, valued at $919 million, positions the project as the largest of its kind in the world, showcasing both DEWA’s leadership in water management and its pivotal role in addressing the region's growing demand for sustainable water solutions.

The Hassyan project, which forms part of Dubai’s broader efforts to ensure water security and sustainability, is a key part of the emirate’s long-term environmental strategy. Located in the south of Dubai, the plant is expected to have a production capacity of 120 million imperial gallons per day, supplying essential potable water to residents and industries.
